Robot for education
MARVIN (Mobile Autonomous Robot & Virtual Intelligent ageNt) – the aim of the project is to develop an educational complex contains a personal mobile robot and its computer models for research in robotics and related courses in various disciplines at the university. As a result of project students and PhD students will get a set of software and hardware for research in the field of robotics, embedded systems and artificial intelligence. Improvements in electronics for robots
We develop electronics and components for our robots from available components. The purpose of this work is to create electronic modules, each of which solves a specific task and can be used in various projects as a autonomous functional module. The main requirements for our modules: low price, easily available components, ease of use. Now we have created and used the following modules: Arduino based controllers, motor drivers, bluetooth adapters and others.More(in russian)...
The aim of this project is to develop prototype of Robot-guide. The main task of robot-guide is a provide some kind of guided tours in a exhibitions and museums. The robot-guide should provide multimedia information about the exhibits, as well as move freely between them on a preplanned or visitors formed a route. Naturally when moving the robot must not collide with any people, nor with any obstacles to its movement. To do this, it must not only moved on statically formed trajectory, but also to build dynamically a new trajectory. Robot-guide should respond to all changes in its environment, and adapt for them. The some other projects, such as adaptive behavior, robot vision, navigation, path planning, improvements in electronic are involved to this continuous project which end at Ice Hockey World Championship in Minsk in 2014.More(in russian)...
The RoboCup is well known the world greatest robotics competition. We also work on this, continiously creating and improving our small and humble BrSTU Robotics RoboCup team. Our team - it's two or three wheels simple robots with kicking mechanisms. Soccer field is 2 meters to 2,5 meters. Each of the robot must defend it's goal and try to get the ball. Two cameras were attached to the ceiling. Control software merge images from two cameras and after detect lines, goals, ball and robots. This information robots use for taking a decision based on multi-agent reinforcement learning. All software was developed in BrSTU Robotics laboratory.More(in russian)...
Intelligent multi-purpose mobile robotic platform
It is planned that this will be a universal mobile robot, which can control operator for different tasks. There are areas of business, where manual labor rights may not be possible or economically inefficient. Examples of application: monitoring climate, where people have access should be restricted; working in harsh conditions, simply inaccessible. This applies to high-tech industries that require control of the microclimate in the premises of the work in harsh conditions (chemicals, radioactivity, emergencies at work, etc.). Need to take the next step in the development of automated systems in these areas.
Our system will always operate the operator. But may be a situation of loss of communication with the remote. We develop algorithms for navigation, which will allow the robot using onboard sensors, independently reached the point where connection is available. Another scientific problem - the safe movement in a dynamic environment. The control algorithms must insure the operator, to avoid collisions with people and other moving robots. RoboRace is a collaborative robotics competition organized by Association of Robotics in Ukraine and BrSTU Robotics Laboratory. This competition is mainly inspired by Formula 1 and take a lot of ideas from it. In this competition the fully autonomous robo-bolids (5-6 on one race), developed by teams consist 2-3 people (with coach), complete on the track. Robots rely on sensors and AI that his testimony would be guided on the track, "find" turns, speed and choose not to deal with rivals. SPOT - is a simple robot developed to test possibilities of Sun SPOT Hardware Developers Kits presented by Sun Microsystems. The Sun SPOT is a embedded microprocessor with sensor board, ZigBee connection protocol, and all it runs on Java (Squawk VM)! The more info about Sun SPOT is on http://www.sunspotworld.com/. The SPOT robot use IrDA to see obstacles, the Sun SPOT sensor board to observe the world and connection with the base. Robot use two servo for movement and can be autonomous and controlled by joystick both. The Sun SPOT Java Development Kit is the great and flexible platform for robotics development and can be used in schools and universities, research labs and hobbyist experiments around the world.(Project finished).
SDP-1 - the first robot in the series of SDP (Slave, Defender, Porter) robots. Designed by Andrei Dunets for software testing a and implemented by Sergei Parfenyuk and Leanid Raychenok as his diploma project. Robot use Arduino Duemilanove on Atmega168 for control, three IrDA with filters as sensor system, two servo for movement and can be autonomous and controlled by joystick both. Robot can avoid obstacles, line tracking, Bypass the labyrinth by the method of the right hand and others. Now typically used in exhibitions.
